Landscaping Built for Volcanic Soil, Arid Heat, and Atlantic Wind

Most garden advice was written for temperate climates. Eco Landscape Care designs, installs, and maintains outdoor spaces that are built specifically for the Canary Islands — and that improve with each year rather than struggling through each summer.

What We Do

What We Do — and Why It Works Here

Seven services, each designed from the ground up for volcanic terrain, low rainfall, and northeast Trade Wind exposure. Not adapted from a European template. Designed here.

Our Approach

Ecology Is How We Work — Not How We Market

Fuerteventura receives under 150mm of rain per year. The northeast Trade Winds strip moisture from plants and impose significant wind loading on trees and structures. The volcanic substrate has a distinct pH and mineral profile that synthetic fertilisers disrupt rather than improve.

Most landscaping advice ignores all of this. Our work begins with these specific conditions. Every plant species we specify tolerates saline Atlantic winds. Every irrigation system we design starts with the rainfall data for your location, not a default European schedule. Every soil input we use is organic — because synthetic fertilisers damage the mycorrhizal networks that help plants survive drought in volcanic soil.

The result is outdoor spaces that look better in year three than year one, require fewer interventions, use significantly less water, and do not need rebuilding when the next dry summer arrives.

"We build gardens that actually survive here."

How It Works

Four steps, each with a clear output. You know what happens next before you commit to the next step.

  1. Consult

We arrange a free on-site visit. We assess your soil, wind exposure, orientation, water supply, and how you use the space. You receive a written summary — not a verbal estimate you have to remember.

  2. Design

We produce a detailed design plan: species selection, planting layout, materials, and where relevant, an irrigation zone map and water budget. We present it, explain every decision, and revise it until it reflects what you actually want.

  3. Install

We carry out the installation using specified materials and plants, keeping you informed at each stage. If you manage the property remotely, we document progress and send updates.

  4. Maintain

We write a maintenance calendar calibrated to the Canary Islands season cycle and, if required, manage ongoing care. Our goal is a garden that requires fewer interventions over time, not more.

Each project is specific to its site — the orientation, the wind exposure, the owner's water budget, and how the space gets used.
